Before moving into your new home, you must clean it first! Take advantage of the opportunity to get your home thoroughly disinfected while it’s still empty. Here is a checklist for getting your new home ready for moving day:
Tackle the bathroom first
Your bathroom will be the first room people use prior and during moving day. Clean the tub, tub fixtures, shower head, and shower enclosure with a disinfectant product and rinse thoroughly. Scrub tiles and grout, wipe down sinks, and sanitize the toilet. Don’t forget to clean the inside of the medicine cabinet and dust and wash any vents.
Make the kitchen sparkle
Get your new kitchen clean and germ free by taking the time to clean it thoroughly. Vacuum all cabinets and drawers while they are empty and wipe them out with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Line shelves and drawers with shelf paper. Clean the appliances, scour the sink, and make sure to get rid of all grease and food residue that may have built up.
Clean the walls
Most people don’t think to clean the walls of their new home prior to move in, but you don’t want to miss this step. Using the handheld vacuum attachment on your vacuum cleaner, vacuum your walls to get rid of any hairs or cobwebs. Once the walls are free of debris, wipe them down with the appropriate cleaner. Don’t forget to dust door tops and disinfect doorknobs!
